Using AI In Marketing
Post Summary

Over the past year, I’ve integrated AI into my personal life and business. Now, I want to help you start using AI to create a thorough marketing strategy for 2025 in record time. I’m going to give you the exact prompts I’ve used and a valuable podcast series with real-life applications of AI.

If you’re like most people, you have barely scratched the surface of what AI can do for you and your business. Let me start with a story.

Next week, I am hosting my annual Beach House Mastermind Retreat, and one of the fun parts of the retreat is all about food. This past Sunday, I spent the afternoon carefully planning every meal for the participants, listing and adapting the recipes for each meal to account for what I would need to cook for 10 people.

Once I had the menu and recipes listed, I wrote my grocery list, so I knew the precise quantities I would need to buy. It took me the better part of the afternoon.

Elizabeth Young, owner of Flowers Talk Tivoli, always attends and flies in early to help me with meal prep—yes, she is a saint. I was very proud of my organizational skills, so I sent her a quick video to show her my list.  She replied, “Cool, did you use ChatGPT to do that?”

Wait, what? I immediately opened Chat GPT, input my recipes, and asked for a grocery list if I were to make each recipe for 10 people. Within seconds, it produced an even better quality list than I had manually created over the course of the ENTIRE afternoon.

AI could have saved me four hours of work had I started there.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am a daily user of AI, but discovering my blindspots on where it can help me (and you) is still very real.

How about marketing?

When I hosted Plan or Perish in December, I showed participants how to create a 52-week content matrix using ChatGPT. It was as simple as adding some context and telling ChatGPT what I needed, and then boom, you have a content plan that is easy to implement.

From there, you can do a couple of things. You can have ChatGPT either write the plan for you (which I don’t recommend), or give you a few key points to write from. In case you are wondering, I am writing this blog, not AI. I write all of my own content, but here’s how I use AI to help me get better at marketing.

This year, I introduced an Action Accelerator offering, where you can work with me for 90 minutes on strategy or a project you need help moving forward. I wrote out my idea for the program, went to AI, and asked it to review what I wrote and provide feedback on how to improve my copy.

I could have asked AI to rewrite it, but that doesn’t make me a better writer. It only serves to make me lazy. A muscle will atrophy if you never use it, and I don’t want that to happen to my brain.

AI can help you in many ways in your business. It can be a thinking partner, a guide on how to improve things or heck! It can even map out a travel plan for you. Last summer, when my leadership team was here, I wanted to take them on a winery tour, so I went to AI, input all of the destinations where we were leaving and returning to, and in seconds, it mapped out the shortest route for us.

There are many ways you can use AI beyond transcribing notes and action items on zoom calls but the key is you, the user, learning how to work with the tool.

Over the holidays, I asked AI to interview me to learn about my skills and expertise. Then, I asked it to take my responses and help me create a podcast content plan for 2025. Within that plan, I asked for structure, talking points, and real-world examples that I could research (with links) for the examples provided. This allowed me (not AI) to create my own narrative and outline for each podcast. It took me from a blank page to having some really great ideas to talk about.

In essence, you can choose to use AI to become a content writer for you, or you can choose to work in partnership with AI to help you get better and do things faster, or maybe a bit of both.

This past year, I’ve spoken extensively about AI on my podcast. While attending Coach Con, I attended a session on AI with Mary Fearon, and we were blown away by how much we knew in comparison to most of the people in the room. This realization sent us down the path of creating a podcast series on AI.

This series is a deep dive into how AI should be viewed and used as your secret weapon in meetings, a partner in idea generation (in this episode, we discuss our best tips for writing effective prompts), inspiration for content creation, and a gateway to elevating your customer service

The key to establishing a great working relationship with whatever AI tool you choose is in how you communicate with AI, otherwise known as your prompts.

If you’d like some help planning your marketing strategy, here are some prompts I’ve used successfully with ChatGPT or, my personal favorite, Claude.ai. The hardest challenge for people when they begin to use AI is learning how to craft prompts that deliver specific, relevant results. Unlike searching for a result on Google or YouTube, AI thrives on clear direction: what you want to know, the perspective you need, how you’ll use the insights and the exact format you prefer. Providing the tool with as much context as possible will help you get better results.

Here are some prompts participants in my Plan or Perish event really appreciated seeing:

Example Prompt 1:

“Research the 12 most-watched video topics about business communication. Based on your findings, generate a list of video ideas I can create, including 2–3 key points or takeaways for each idea.”

Example Prompt 2:

“Create a content matrix with 5 high-level categories that my target audience would find interesting. For each category, generate a list of content types (e.g., myths, best practices, cheat codes). Use the matrix to brainstorm specific content ideas. Then, write blog-worthy content for 2–3 ideas from the matrix, including strong, attention-grabbing hooks as titles or subjects for each post.”

Example Prompt 3:

“Can you please take the content from this blog post [https://yourblogpostlink.com] and turn it into 3 social media posts? I would like a long-form post, a carousel, and a short post with a strong hook that I can pair with a link.”

Example Prompt 4:

“Generate 3 ideas for high-value free resources to build my mailing list, targeting highly sensitive business owners or entrepreneurs. These resources should be impactful, persuasive, and designed to encourage users to book a sales conversation with me about how I can help with their business growth and marketing.”

When I was looking to create my own free download, I copied and pasted several planning questionnaires I had used over the years into one document and asked AI to consolidate and create “The Ultimate Guide To Planning Your Future,” a five-stage planning process to help you achieve more than ever before. You can download your own copy here.

These prompts provide you with powerful, useful ideas on what to write or create that will be of value to your audience while maintaining your voice and thought leadership.

You can adapt these prompts to fit your audience and the content you want to create for them. Let the people you aspire to serve inspire you to unlock the full potential of AI—saving time while delivering your most valuable content yet.

Don’t be overwhelmed or intimidated by AI, or let it take away your voice and authority by creating everything for you. Instead, use it to amplify your thought leadership and multiply your marketing efforts in less time.
