Sometimes, an ROI is too big to fit in a spreadsheet. Sometimes, it’s priceless.
When I first announced my AI webinar, someone asked me about the ROI when they already know about AI.
This is a fair question coming from someone who already has some AI experience and may already utilize it regularly.
However, it doesn’t consider one thing.
Sometimes, the biggest ROI happens in other ways.
The ROI can be a result of the people you meet, the relationships and referrals you gain, and the creative ideas you generate and apply in your business later on.
ROI isn’t always a straight line.
When I look back on my life, the most powerful ROIs I’ve experienced have come from meeting and connecting with other people.
It’s not the information. It’s the interaction that compounds: connections that trade ideas and create business for years afterward.
In fact, I went to a conference last year where I’d rate the ROI on what I took away as a 2 out of 10. But it led to a renewed friendship with Nick Nanton, whom I hadn’t seen in years. This then resulted in me becoming a founder of The Difference Business Bourbon.
Plus, my latest podcast episode is an interview with Nick, where we discussed how to get clarity on what makes you great. You can tune in here.
That 2-star conference was actually a massive ROI because of that renewed connection. But the path to ROI was not super obvious at the start.
Have you ever experienced this? The results you expected may have fallen flat, but the outcomes you never see coming make up for it tenfold.

The lesson: Make investments without expecting an immediate return. Instead, be open to all of the opportunities it opens up to you, whether it’s through the information, the connections, or the experience.
How do you plan on putting this into practice?
