Why What You Create Matters

Why does what you create matter? I want to take you back to a book I read, A Better Way to Live: Og Mandino’s Own Personal Story of Success Featuring 17 Rules to Live By.

I read this book a couple of years ago and being the author stalker I am, I went and bought everything Og Mandino had ever written because I love Og Mandino. His work is amazing! It really, really, really resonated with me. At the time it was probably one of the best books I had ever read.

So, I set out on a quest to learn everything I could about Og Mandino. I really wanted to meet this man because I resonated so much with his work. I started to look online and I found that Og Mandino had passed away years earlier. I felt a sense of sadness because here I am reading his work and it’s really having an impact on my life only to find that he’s no longer with us.

On August 30th, 2015 the world lost another powerful thought leader. We lost Wayner Dyer.

Wayne Dyer has been a profound leader in my life. I have listened to hundreds of hours of his audio books. I’ve chosen to listen to most of his books because he narrates most of his audio work and I love the sound of his voice. I love the sarcasm and the mannerisms and the way that he communicated his message. So much so, that I have bought tons of his work and May 2015 I was privileged to meet with him and it was a beautiful moment.

I have a photo of that moment – I’m looking at him, he’s looking at me and he’s got this big grin on his face. I had just said, “Your work has changed my life.” He got this goofy grin on his face and he was like, “Really?” Like he was shocked!

Wayne Dyer had this goofy grin on his face like he could not believe that I was telling him that his work changed my life.

I share these two stories with you today – the story of Og Mandino and the story of Wayne Dyer – because what you create lives on.

What you create continues to have a profound impact on others. So create. Click To Tweet

None of us are promised tomorrow or next week and if you have something inside of you that you want to create – whether it’s a book or a blog post – you need to create.

The time to create is now. Not next year.

The time to get it out of you is right now. The time to make a difference is right now. And the difference you make will continue to have an impact on others for years to come.

There are people in the world right now who have no idea who Wayne Dyer is. No idea who Og Mandino is. They have no idea who Jim Roan was. Their work can still have a profound impact on someone’s life.

Don’t underestimate why what you create matters and what you learn from others can be so very important to the people who learn from you.

My own book Pilot to Profit was created in this spirit.
