Do you ever stare at your screen and wonder what the heck to write about?
Last week, in Lessons Learned, I shared advice on taking three key topics and then thinking about different ways to write about them such as processes, mindsets, myths, habits, and obstacles. Today, I’m building on this topic by sharing my top marketing hacks for writing inspiration.
There are a few other things you can do when you are struggling to write content:
1. Take a look back at your text messages with clients over the past week.
Did any conversations spark ideas you could write about?
2. Take a look at your calendar.
Did you have any meetings with clients or possible clients that would make for a good piece of content?
3. Pull out an old notebook from one of the last events you went to and read through your notes.
Is there something there you could share?
4. Look at your past blog posts and find the top 10 that resonated the most with your audience.
Do any of them need to be refreshed or updated into a new piece?
5. Go scan the news.
Find an article that might be interesting to your readers, and write an opinion piece about it.
6. Be bold.
Make predictions for the next year or even quarter that could help people who follow your work.
7. Grab a copy of the last book you read.
Is there an insight there you could use to write something useful for other people?
8. Think about what really ticks you off in your industry.
This is usually a great way to find something to rant/write about!
9. Jump onto ChatGPT or your favorite AI tool.
Tell it your three key topics and ask for a list of recommendations on what you could write about.
Let’s be honest here. There is always something you can find to write about. The real issue is you’re likely lacking in motivation, and/or you’re thinking what you have to say isn’t valuable enough.
It’s time to get over that and write. There are people out there searching for what you know, and if you want to be a thought leader, you need to share your thoughts. You need to be disciplined enough to follow through and be of service through writing on a weekly basis.
Excuses be gone. You can do this.
