LL Stop Diluting Your Voice

Stop Diluting Your Voice

What Taki Moore said really resonated with me.

He said, “We’re all doing the same thing. We record a video or a podcast, someone transcribes it, then they create content for your marketing, and at some point along the way, you read what someone else has written for you, and you cringe.”

  • That’s not my voice.
  • That’s not what I meant.
  • That’s missing context.
  • That sounds like AI

Your voice, opinion, perspective, and ability to tell a story in only the way you can is what differentiates you from everyone else.

It’s the one thing no one else can replicate because they are not you. They don’t have your perspective, life experience, and/or the same opinions as you.

When you abdicate responsibility for creating your own thought leadership, you’re diluting your power, influence, and impact one word at a time.

Do the work.

  • Write the blog.
  • Write the newsletter.
  • Write the book.

Create content that is meaningful and that you can be proud of.

I get it.

You/we/me, all need help with our marketing, but the core, the source of that material, starts with you.

If your brand is the magnet that attracts leads and buyers to your business, and you dilute that brand, I promise you will see a dilution in leads, too.

This past week, I have written content every single day for my team. I have recommitted to providing them with more original content to work with, which, in turn, makes it easier for them to distribute my message in a way that sounds like me.

They can take what I said—100% me—and use it to create a newsletter, a social post, a carousel, a video with words, etc, and there will be no dilution.

If your brand is built around your expertise, don’t let someone who lacks that same expertise water down your message.

And for goodness sake, don’t let AI replace you. There are a lot of things you can use AI for, but replacing your voice and making you a better writer isn’t one of them.

Unless, of course, you want to sound like everyone else.
