There are times when something that you do or say resonates with another person in a much more significant way than you realize.
A few weeks ago, Jacqueline Ebanks tagged me in an Instagram story that said, “For all the aspiring entrepreneurs…” and, “Wisdom another entrepreneur friend shared years ago and I’ve kept it.”
The story was a photo of words I used. They read:
“Total freedom equals total responsibility.
That means you’re responsible for:
- Revenue generation
- All expenses
- Customer acquisition and retention
- Time management
- Operations
- Self-discipline
- Doing the things you don’t like to do or…
- Delegating and following up on things you don’t like doing
People think it’s easy. It’s not.
That’s why people hire coaches and mentors and do everything they can to build something sustainable.
Total freedom comes with a price—responsibility.
The great thing about responsibility is it’s something you can choose to do every single day.
Don’t stop or give up even on the challenging days.
We all have challenging days but I promise, total freedom is worth the price.”

Jacqueline shared that this was always such a good reminder on the tough days and felt like it was permission to keep seeking improvement and support. She said she had read what I wrote probably thousands of times over the years.
I had no idea.
And you have no idea.
You have no idea of the impact you’re making when you keep on going, and you keep on investing in yourself, your growth, and your impact.
Entrepreneurship and total freedom is a long game. It’s a marathon that is run over decades, not days.

Your impact can be far-reaching and you don’t even realize that something you wrote, or something you said has become the guardrails someone else needed to keep going.
As you move into this new year ahead, remember to surround yourself with like-minded people who are on the journey of becoming better each and every day. You don’t need to compete with where anyone else is at, but you do need to compete with yourself and challenge yourself to be all you’re capable of every single day.
Your future self is worth the investment in you.
