Q: I have some contacts on Facebook as acquaintances and want to switch them over to just friends, but it seems that they will have to go from acquaintances to close friends not just friends. Is there any way to go back to friends?
A: Close friends are people you really know, acquaintances are now people you want to keep outside of the circle of people you really know. This layer was added a while back to help you categorize friends. Friends cannot see which they are for you (they don’t know what lists they are on either).
